Formed in 1789, the Town of East Bloomfield, New York, encompasses the Village of Bloomfield. East Bloomfield began as Bloomfield but its name was changed when West Bloomfield was established in 1833. The village of Bloomfield began as a one-mile-long village stretching from the intersection of Route 444 and Main Street to the western Main Street boundary. As development took place on both ends of Main, the east end, because of the railroad station built in 1854, became known as East Bloomfield. East Bloomfield Station grew to be the hub of the town’s business community with a bank, dentists' and doctors' offices, hotels, retailers, mills, and manufacturing companies. Then in 1916 a new village was formed and incorporated, Holcomb. In 1990 the two villages were consolidated, becoming the Village of Bloomfield again.

Bloomfield today is a place known for its rich history, country charm, rolling hills, and incredible natural landscapes. The village encompasses a historic district, several museums, and the Bloomfield Antique Country Mile. While the Town of East Bloomfield comprises just over thirty-three square miles, the Village of Bloomfield isn’t quite one-and-a-half square miles in size. The town is conveniently located in Ontario County’s western half, a short eight miles west of Canandaigua, while the village sits along State Routes 5 and 20, the town’s primary east-west transportation artery.
